With the year fast approaching its end and all the festivities for the holidays beginning, the Cape Town training division actively participated at various institutions and companies to ensure their employees are de-stressed and ready to embrace this festive period.   Two of the companies that benefited from health talks and staff-pampering sessions was the staff of KWV and the Red Cross Children's Hospital.

During the course of November the health focus nationally was on Diabetes awareness. Tibb Total Wellness Western Cape, played its part by actively participating in the Pick‘n Pay's Diabetes Awareness day where Dr Zahira Kamdar provided the staff with a ‘fresh, holistic' Tibb perspective on how to control this chronic illness.

Over the past few years, wheelchair racing and wheelchair sport in general has been gaining popularity in our communities, Tibb showed its support for the Disabled by providing gifts for some of the participants of the Mitchell's Plain Wheelchair Challenge earlier this month.

The Mylife project assists youth who have lived on the street for years by providing them with shelter and the adequate skills to begin a new life. As part of its commitment to community-based initiatives, Tibb has aided this process by facilitating a 6-week life-skills programme with the youth.   Some of the topics covered were health and basic hygiene, getting to know yourself and goal setting.   The last session was facilitated in November where the focus was on Stress management.   The session was ended by Mama Regina (one of the therapists) who gave the youth some much needed pampering and also taught them self-help Indian Head massage techniques.

And finally, Brackenfell Pick ‘n Pay Hyper invited Tibb to be part of their Senior Citizen Christmas party. We conducted short talks to the Seniors on Hypertension, Diabetes and the Tibb approach to treatment of these conditions.

Looking back, 2009 was bumper packed for the Cape Town Team.   We look forward to the exciting opportunities that await us in 2010. Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and peaceful festive season!
