The month of June can only be described as a time of excitement and joy for our country as the FIFA  World Cup kicked off. The Mother city has been buzzing with activities and Tibb has been keeping the Cape Townians healthy during this period.
While soccer is on all our minds, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not completely far from our thoughts.
This month Tibb was involved in co-ordinating a Wellness Day for the staff of Ilitha Labantu (Violence Against Women Organisation). The staff was treated to a day of pampering from our massage therapist, Mama Regina, while Dr Joy Saville and Dr Nafisa Mowzer educated them about pertinent Women’s Health issues.  Everyone left having learnt something new and fascinating about themselves.

The topic for our annual presentation to the Athlone Diabetes support group was based on Stress and Diabetes this year. The members were not only enlightened about how increased stress levels impact on the increase in their glucose levels, they were also taught some quick and easy stress busting techniques.

Once again SAPS was at the forefront of their staff’s wellness this month when they hosted a Wellness day for the Mitchell’s Plain station.  The policemen and women were fascinated by cupping and really appreciated the stress management tips and Stress Away samples.

The Presentation on Stress Management was very good. The awareness made on Breathing Techniques is excellent. We often take it for granted and this presentation and instructions were excellent. I will Recommend this workshop to all company - Marewiya Soeker, Broad Reach Healthcare

Wow! I just want to learn some more. I have learnt how I can heal myself and my family through this workshop.  Thank you! -  Fatima Noor, ‘Healthy Living workshop at Ubuntu Wellness Centre.

The month of May marked the beginning of a line-up of workshops at the Ubuntu Wellness Centre in the City Bowl.  The first of which was attended by a diverse group of women from the Bo-Kaap and City Bowl.  The Stress-Management Workshops have been in great demand this month with Broad Reach Healthcare and ABSA’s Winelands Regional Council experiencing the benefits of our interactive and informative workshop.  Pulmonary Hypertension is one of the conditions that HIV positive people are at risk of developing so the Tibb education focus for this month at the Positive Muslims organisation was Hypertension.
A healthy body leads to a healthy mind… this is what was reinforced to 200 students by The Health Promoting Schools project.  Tibb participated by teaching the little ones about meditation and the benefits thereof.  I was surprised at their knowledge and understanding of meditation.
Wellness Day’s are imperative in the corporate environment to encourage health and wellbeing.  This month Tibb participated in three large events:  the ABSA Wellness Day, CSC/Discovery Health Wellness Day and the Pick ‘n Pay Men’s Health Day.
