The introduction of tertiary medical training at the University of the Western Cape has allowed research to be conducted into the position of Tibb medicine in the broad South African healthcare scene.
A number of projects have been initiated which include research into the basic principles of Tibb, the function of Tibb within the South African medical system and the role of Tibb in common chronic illnesses such as HIV and Aids, Diabetes and hypertension.
