November and early December were a very productive time for the Gauteng Tibb Total Wellness Team. Our ongoing presentations to a number of organisations have been most promising resulting in several workshops lined up for the forthcoming year.

Highlights:

World Aids Day- 1 December: An HIV/ Aids presentation was held at the Baragwanath Hospital's Heriet Shezi Clinic with Resident Sister, Sylvia. The Tibb approach to Living with HIV and Aids was received most positively and we will be working closely with this division of the hospital in the future. Thus far, teen workshops on HIV/Aids as well as training programs for nurses on Healthy Living and Lifestyle have already been confirmed for 2010.

Tibb's commitment to the community, with specific focus on health empowerment through education initiatives in underprivileged areas, is an ongoing focus of the Total Wellness Division. This month, we attended an HIV Expo in the Sedibeng District Municipality and have pledged continuous involvement in any further Wellness Days for next year.

Other highlights of the past six weeks include several successful visits to pharmacy sisters in the North of Gauteng and Soweto. We look forward to 2010, when we will be hosting a number of consumer workshops to the valued clients of these pharmacies.

On the 17 th November, a Healthy Living Workshop was conducted for the SAWID Forum in the South of Gauteng. The spin-off from this exciting session has been community based ‘train the trainer' courses, which will be developed in the next few months.

Out training session with SAPS Lenasia has also been most rewarding. Officers present at the workshops have enquired about further health empowering lifestyle courses.

We look forward to our participation at the Life Science conference in February where we will be investigating Tibb's role in Gauteng Schools.
